The Opportunity

We're seeking an exceptional Senior Legal Training Director to architect and lead our attorney development program. This is not a typical training role—this is an opportunity to build the foundation of legal excellence for a growing firm and directly shape how our attorneys serve clients.

The Challenge: We currently have capable attorneys who need to become truly exceptional. Your mission is to transform them into elite estate planning professionals who can handle complex client situations with confidence, precision, and outstanding results.

This role starts with a clear mandate: onboard new attorneys and elevate the entire team's expertise in estate planning law. However, given the caliber of person we're seeking, we expect this role to evolve significantly as you identify opportunities to add value across the firm.

What You'll DoPhase 1: Foundation Building (First 90 Days)

• Conduct comprehensive assessment of current attorney capabilities and knowledge gaps
• Design and implement intensive onboarding program for new estate planning attorneys
• Create state-of-the-art training materials that translate complex legal concepts into practical, client-facing skills
• Establish baseline competency standards and assessment frameworks

Ongoing Responsibilities

• Continuous Attorney Development: Work directly with each attorney on an ongoing basis to ensure they remain sharp, confident, and current on estate planning law and strategy
• Real-Time Excellence: Coach attorneys to deliver exceptional client consultations, not just adequate ones—the goal is clients leaving conversations feeling they've worked with the absolute best
• Training Innovation: Develop engaging learning experiences including workshops, simulations, case studies, quizzes, and step-by-step protocols
• Content Mastery: Stay ahead of changes in estate planning law, tax implications, trust strategies, and related areas to keep training materials current
• Performance Partnership: Collaborate with firm leadership to identify training needs based on client feedback and case outcomes

Who You AreNon-Negotiables

• Licensed Attorney with active bar admission and substantial practice experience in the United States
• U.S. Legal Practice Background: You've worked in American law firms or legal environments and deeply understand U.S. legal culture, client expectations, and professional standards
• Estate Planning Expertise: Specific experience in trusts, wills, estate planning, elder law, or closely related practice areas
• Exceptional English Communication: Fluent, articulate, and professional in both written and verbal English—you communicate at the level expected in top-tier American law firms
• Remote Work Excellence: Proven ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across distributed teams, with availability during U.S. business hours

Essential Qualities

• Training & Development Experience: You've successfully onboarded, trained, or mentored other attorneys or legal professionals. You know how to transfer knowledge effectively
• Self-Motivated Hustler: You don't wait to be told what to do—you identify what needs to happen and make it happen
• High Standards: You're not satisfied with "good enough"—you want excellence and know how to cultivate it in others
• Intellectually Curious: You stay current on legal developments and genuinely enjoy learning and teaching

• Materials Development: You can create clear, engaging training content—guides, protocols, assessments, presentations, etc.

Ideal Background

• Experience developing training curricula or continuing legal education (CLE) programs
• Background in law firm management, practice group leadership, or legal education
• Track record of improving attorney performance and client satisfaction
• Understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theory
