Director of Setup & Operations (EV Charging)

Role Summary

Own the end to end rollout and steady state operations of an EV charging network in the Philippines. Build and lead the team that selects sites, secures power and permits, manages EPC and commissioning, then runs day to day operations to deliver high uptime, great customer experience, and sustainable unit economics.

Key Responsibilities

1) Network Setup and Commissioning, first 18 months

  • Build the setup playbook: site selection criteria, business models, hosted or owned or leased, and approval gates
  • Lead site sourcing and contracts with landlords, malls, petrol stations, parking operators, fleets
  • Drive utilities and permits: load studies, interconnection with MERALCO and ECs, LGU permits, DOTr or DPWH or PEZA or SBCC as applicable
  • Select and manage EPC, OEMs, and civil or MEP contractors, negotiate total cost of ownership, warranties, and SLAs
  • Oversee design reviews, BoQs, construction, HSE, FAT or SAT, commissioning, and handover to Operations
  • Ensure platform readiness, OCPP or OCPI, payments, pricing, roaming, and CRM integrations

2) Operations and Continuous Improvement, steady state

  • Own network uptime, safety, and customer experience across the CPO platform and field operations
  • Stand up 24 by 7 monitoring, triage, and dispatch, manage spares, RMA, and vendor SLAs
  • Optimize O and M cost per kWh, energy procurement, demand charges, and preventive maintenance
  • Implement EHS, ISO or OSHAS practices, incident reporting and root cause elimination
  • Run performance reviews with OEMs and EPCs, drive firmware updates and reliability fixes
  • Partner with Product and Tech for new features, pricing tests, and data dashboards
  • Manage P and L for Setup and Operations, build annual plans, budgets, and capacity models
  • Hire, coach, and develop a high performing team: project managers, site acquisition, engineering, operations, field service

Qualifications

  • 10 to 15 years in infrastructure or energy or telecom, at least 5 years leading build out and operations at scale, EV charging, power distribution, telco towers, or similar
  • Proven delivery of multi site rollout programs, 100 plus sites or equivalent, with utilities interconnection and LGU permitting in the Philippines
  • Strong vendor or EPC or OEM management, contract negotiation, SLAs, warranties, LDs, performance bonds
  • Hands on with OCPP or OCPI, CPO platforms, remote monitoring, payments, and CRM
  • Solid electrical or MEP understanding, LV or MV, transformers, switchgear, protection, grounding, licensed engineer is a plus
  • Data driven operator who builds dashboards, reads logs, sets SOPs, and closes the loop
  • Financial acumen: capex and opex control, unit economics, and P and L ownership
  • Leadership: hires A players, sets culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication in English, Filipino is a plus
  • Willing to travel 30 to 50 percent nationwide

Nice to Have

  • Experience with DC fast charging, 120 to 400 kW and above, battery storage integration, solar EV hybrids
  • Existing relationships with MERALCO or ECs, mall or parking operators, and national retail networks
  • ISO 9001 or 14001 or 45001 implementation
