Biomedical Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:
The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for the planning, installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment and medical devices in compliance with healthcare standards and regulatory requirements. The role ensures that all medical equipment is safe, reliable, and effective to support patient care and hospital operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Equipment Management
Installs, tests, calibrates, and maintains biomedical equipment.
- Conducts preventive and corrective maintenance of medical devices (e.g., ventilators, ECG machines, dialysis machines, imaging systems).
- Troubleshoots and repairs equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.
- Maintains equipment inventory, service records, and technical documentation.
- Assists in evaluating and recommending biomedical equipment for purchase.
- Reviews equipment specifications, quotations, and vendor proposals.
Participates in budgeting, cost analysis, and lifecycle planning for medical devices.
Regulatory & Safety Compliance
Ensures all biomedical equipment complies with Department of Health (DOH), Food and Drug Administration (FDA Philippines), and other regulatory requirements.
- Implements safety protocols to minimize equipment-related risks to patients and staff.
Conducts periodic safety checks and audits of medical devices.
Technical Support & Training
Provides technical support to healthcare professionals on proper equipment use.
- Trains hospital staff in the safe operation and handling of biomedical equipment.
Coordinates with suppliers and vendors for technical issues, spare parts, and service contracts.
Research & Development
Stays updated with new biomedical technologies and industry standards.
- Participates in projects involving medical equipment upgrades or innovations.
- Collaborates with healthcare professionals in adapting equipment to hospital needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
- Professional License (PRC ECE/PECE) preferred, if applicable.
- At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in a hospital or biomedical setting (fresh graduates with internship/training may be considered).
- Knowledge of medical device standards, hospital safety regulations, and DOH/FDA guidelines.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with hospital staff, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Php23, Php25,000.00 per month
