Job Summary:

As an Assistant Consultant, you will work closely with innovative Australian businesses to assess their eligibility for the R&D Tax Incentive and other government programs. Your role involves analysing technical and financial data, preparing detailed reports and applications, and providing strategic advice to help clients maximise their claims. You'll also collaborate directly with senior stakeholders, support process improvements, and help train junior team members. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Requirements:

• A tertiary degree in any STEM-related course (e.g., Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
• Strong English communication skills – both written and verbal
• Exceptional client or customer management skills – professional, responsive, and relationship-oriented

Job Description:

• Analyse and interpret information to assess clients' eligibility for the R&D tax incentive or other programs
• Actively participate in client meetings to understand the technologies our clients are developing
• Prepare and collate necessary R&D Tax Incentive and other grant documentation for presentation to all relevant stakeholders
• Prepare necessary calculations in respect of R&D expenditure
• Building relationships and working directly with clients including CEOs, CFOs etc. located across Australia
• Analysis of documentation and evidence to ensure it supports the client's R&D activities
• Preparation of and calculations for R&D documentation including project reports, R&D expenditure, R&D Application Form, and R&D Tax Incentive Schedule
• Research and review of industry/competitor activities for comparing R&D initiatives with current technologies in the industry
• Understand the client's project strategies, including any limitations or opportunities within the project resources, to determine whether a R&D tax incentive or other Government programs can assist
• Analyse and identify the limitations or opportunities within the project to assist clients drive innovation, enhance operational performance, and maximise eligible R&D
• Assess and review existing market conditions, regulatory bodies and government incentives, and industry gaps. Within this context, assess the client's project capabilities including the financials, and the technical aspects of the R&D project
• Provide solutions to clients and recommending changes to their project to best obtain the government incentives while adhering to the regulatory standards
• Analyse financial data to identify eligible R&D expenditure in accordance with relevant legislation, and draft comprehensive reports for government bodies and clients — including technical project reports, R&D applications, and detailed expenditure reports — ensuring accuracy, compliance, and clear substantiation of R&D activities and costs
• Design and deliver regular training sessions and presentations on updated business processes, R&D claim procedures, and legislative or regulatory changes impacting clients and internal operations.
• Train and mentor new employees and junior consultants on technical topics, internal systems, and current government updates — ensuring consistency, compliance, and professional development across the team.
