Data Analytics Lead Auditor

JOB PURPOSE:

The Data Analytics Lead Auditor leads data analytics and monitoring activities aligned with the internal audit strategic plan. This role is responsible for developing and executing Continuous Auditing (CA) tests, leveraging advanced analytics to enable real-time risk assessment, detect control deficiencies, and identify anomalies and emerging risks. The position also drives innovation through AI and automation initiatives to enhance audit efficiency and insight. Additionally, the Lead Auditor manages and improves the internal audit management system (AuditPro) and oversees the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP) to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. The role covers the Insular Life Group.

Stakeholder Engagement and Management

• Build strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders to reinforce the value-added role of internal audit and ensure a positive engagement experience.
• Communicate continuous audit results clearly, highlighting exceptions and associated risks, and facilitate agreement on management actions and timelines.
• Present engagement conclusions with influence and clarity, driving acceptance of risk and commitment to remediation.
• Conduct quarterly business monitoring with assigned units to assess changes in risk and control environments, leveraging data analytics for timely insights.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on initiatives that enhance audit efficiency, including automation and AI-driven improvements aligned with audit objectives.

People Management and Development

• Complete required training hours as mandated by the company and participate in mandatory regulatory and company-specific training programs. Pursue additional certifications in data analytics, automation, and AI-related fields to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
• Keep the competency matrix updated with current skills and qualifications; address competency gaps through targeted learning initiatives and integrate these into Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
• Develop and maintain IDPs to align personal growth with internal audit strategic objectives and technology-driven audit practices.
• Share best practices and technical knowledge with peers through workshops or informal sessions. Actively contribute to developing team competencies in data analytics, automation, and emerging technologies such as AI to support advanced audit methodologies.
• Conduct regular reviews of auditors assigned to specific Continuous Audit tests to ensure quality and adherence to Global Internal Audit Standards.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THE ROLE:

• Degree in Accounting, Internal Auditing, Finance, Business or Computer Science, or a related field.
• Certifications such as CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA are an advantage.
• Additional certifications or coursework in Data analytics, Data science, AI, or Automation are highly preferred.
• Minimum of 7-10 years in internal or external audit, with at least 3-5 years of experience supervising staff or leading audit projects.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience applying data analytics and technology-driven audit techniques, including use of audit analytics tools (ACL, TeamMate, IDEA).
• Intermediate skills in data analytics querying languages (SQL, Teradata SQL) and data visualization software (Power BI, Tableau) are required.
• At least 1 year of experience in AI application for audit or analytics or demonstrated knowledge of AI fundamentals and experience in using Generative AI tools.
• Familiarity with automation and continuous auditing practices is preferred, with the ability to use or learn tools like PowerApps and PowerAutomate.
• Strong background in risk assessment, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement.
• Audit and Risk Knowledge: Strong knowledge of internal auditing standards, risk assessment, and control frameworks, with ability to integrate data analytics into audit methodologies and support continuous improvement.
• Leadership & Team Development: Ability to supervise, mentor, and build team capability in data-driven audit practices; demonstrates strategic thinking and sound decision-making while fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Project Management: Skilled in planning, prioritizing, and delivering multiple audit engagements and continuous audit tests on time and within scope.
• Technology Mindset: Excellent digital skills and a genuine passion for data, AI, and emerging technologies, with the ability to apply these to enhance audit efficiency and insight.
