
Account Manager

The Account Manager is responsible for the profitable growth and service of customers in his/her territory. The successful Account Manager develops and implements improvements in customer operations driving retention and enhanced margins for the division and partners with the Corporate Accounts and Sales Management to gain new customers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Tertiary education
- 10 years of experience in a sales environment
- Excellent planning, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently, under pressure, and with little direction
- Customer service orientation with consultative selling aptitudex
- Technical understanding (e.g., electrical, mechanical)
- with valid Driver's license
- Experience working with and knowledge of computers (e.g., MS Office suite)
Preferred:
- Engineering Degree preferrable Chemical Engineering
- 7-10 years of Industry experience in Water Treatment Industry or Chemical Manufacturing Industry
- English language skills
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
- Follow all customers and Ecolab safety guidelines and incident reporting requirements
- Ensure full safety training compliance
- Comply with, and act as a safety champion at customers' sites
Business Planning & Review
- Meet established sales growth and profitability targets
- Develop sales plan and strategies for growing existing customers
- Implement targeted price increases at designated customers
- Monitor and report market intelligence in territory (competitors, customers)
Account Management
- Develop and maintain customer relationships at all levels
- Implement and update Nalco 6 Service and Sales Standards
- Provide first-line equipment maintenance and support including minor repairs
- Accurately implement agreed corporate account commitments and proactively inform CAM of results, issues and initiatives for CA site(s)
Customer Value Delivery and Documentation
- Implement and maintain Create and Maintain Value (CMV) for major customers
- Proactively identify, develop, implement and document solutions to improve results, customer service, and total cost
- Identify, quantify and communicate the Ecolab value provided
Account Prospecting – in conjunction with CAM/senior sales as required
- Establish target customer list and opportunity plan
- Achieve penetration of new customer opportunities
- Seek new applications with existing customers or products
- Conduct trials; produce and present customer proposal documenting solution and value provided. Compile and present tender submissions
- Negotiate and close the deal and implement conversion and start-up plan
