Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation:

  • Assist in preparing ingredients for cooking, including chopping vegetables, measuring ingredients, and preparing sauces.
  • Help with basic cooking tasks, such as boiling, grilling, and frying.
  • Follow recipes and instructions provided by the head chef or kitchen supervisor.

Cleaning and Sanitizing:

  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations before and after use.
  • Ensure all areas of the kitchen are kept clean and organized, including floors, counters, and storage areas.
  • Dispose of waste and recyclables properly.

Inventory Management:

  • Assist with inventory management by receiving and storing deliveries.
  • Ensure ingredients and supplies are properly labeled and stored.
  • Monitor stock levels and report any shortages or discrepancies to the kitchen supervisor.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of food.
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the kitchen supervisor.

Team Support:

  • Provide support to the culinary team by performing tasks as needed.
  • Assist with plating and presentation of dishes during busy periods.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.

Working Conditions:

  • Commissary kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, and potentially hazardous equipment.
