Role Overview

The Tourism Officer
 ensures a safe, engaging, and memorable visitor experience along Masungi's trails while safeguarding the integrity of our landscapes. This role blends 
guest engagement, activity facilitation, safety monitoring, and environmental stewardship
.

You will manage day-to-day low-volume and high-value trail operations —from briefing guests and guiding activities to coordinating with rangers for safety—while upholding our high standards for conservation, cleanliness, and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

Trail Operations & Guest Engagement

• Ensure conservation and environmental work in words and actions
• Lead and facilitate guided trail experiences, providing engaging interpretation on the sciences & Masungi's history, geology, biodiversity, and conservation story.
• Ensure all trail activities run according to schedule while maintaining safety and environmental protocols.
• Conduct guest orientations, safety briefings, and post-activity debriefings.
• Monitor guest flow along trails to avoid congestion and protect sensitive areas.

Safety & Environmental Protection

• Conduct pre-activity trail checks to ensure structures, equipment, and activity sites are safe and ready.
• Enforce environmental rules (e.g., no littering, no picking plants) and gently but firmly correct violations.
• Coordinate with rangers for emergency response, weather advisories, and incident reporting.

Operational Coordination

• Maintain activity logs, incident reports, and feedback summaries.
• Lead the training and audits new and existing park rangers
• Lead facilities and landscape maintenance point persons to ensure trails, rest areas, and facilities remain clean and presentable.
• Coordinate with the inventory point person for activity-related gear and supplies.

Visitor Experience Enhancement

• Provide recommendations to management on improving trail activities and guest engagement based on visitor feedback.
• Support special programs such as sunrise hikes, educational tours, wellness activities, or themed events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Tourism, Biology, Hospitality, Environmental Science, or related fields preferred.
• At least 1–2 years of experience in project management, operations, guiding, or activity facilitation.
• Strong communication skills in English and Filipino; public speaking confidence is essential.
• Good physical fitness and comfort with outdoor work in varied weather conditions.
• Basic first aid certification (or willingness to be trained).
• Passion for environmental protection, cultural heritage, and sustainable tourism.

Work Schedule & Conditions

• Humble quarters are provided for officers and project associates.
• Outdoor work in forested and mountainous environments.
• Primarily on-site work, including weekends, holidays, and early mornings as needed for offsetting to leaner times of the year.
• Includes occasional overtime for special events or peak seasons.
