Job Purpose:

The Occupational Safety and Health Officer will support the SMRI's initiatives to employee health and safety, sanitation, and emergency preparedness against fire, typhoons, earthquakes, evacuations, or medical illness outbreaks.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop an OSH policy, set-up controls, and serve as a secretariat of the Corporate Office OSH Committee. Oversee the overall management of the OSH program and budget.

  • Promote safety and health in the workplace; conduct trainings or organize seminars as needed. Ensure the completion of all workers in the "Mandatory eight (8)-hour Safety and Health Seminar for Workers".

  • Ensures HQ's compliance to emergency response that is aligned to the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD).

  • Assist government representative during inspections related to safety and health compliance and requirement. Provide the necessary information and reports aligned to the OSH standards as required.

  • Issue "Work Stoppage Order" when necessary, based on the standard and procedures aligned to the OSH standards and program.

  • Leads the audit to ensure that the employees are compliant to the safety and health protocols.

  • Pollution Control Officer (PCO)

  • To spear head the "Waste Reduction Committee" under the SM Green Movement in terms of implementation of programs and initiatives.

  • Conducts repair or rectification cost estimates for various issues within the premises.

  • Evaluates safety and technical related proposals and situations related to the building operation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent. Preferred licensed.

  • Valid accreditation and basic training in OSH (40 hours) from DOLE or other recognized organizations

  • Minimum 5 years work experience including the role as OSH practitioner, SO3

  • Accredited PCO

  • Has knowledge in HIRAC, Philippine Labor Code and Republic Act 11058, Philippine OSH Standards, Law, Department Order, and Programs, ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Systems.

  • At least intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook, Teams)
