Software Development Team Leader (Specialist Level) – Job Qualifications
1. Education & Professional Background
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 6–10+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 2–4+ years of technical leadership, team leadership, or senior engineering roles.
  • Experience leading cross-functional or agile teams.

2. Technical Skills
Core Engineering Skills
  • Expert-level proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go).
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and clean code principles.
  • Experience building high-scalability, high-availability, and cloud-native applications.
  • Strong proficiency with REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, or event-driven architecture.
Development Tools & Practices
  • Advanced knowledge of version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab).
  • CI/CD pipeline design and implementation (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI).
  • Strong test-driven development (TDD), automated testing, and code review practices.
  • Proficiency with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP).

3. Leadership & Management Skills
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and grow software development teams.
  • Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and leading sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
  • Ability to translate business goals into technical requirements and actionable development tasks.
  • Skilled in project planning, prioritization, and risk management.
  • Conflict resolution and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience conducting performance reviews and hiring technical talent.

4. Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills
  • Strong capability to diagnose complex technical problems and deliver efficient solutions.
  • Ability to conduct architecture reviews and make strategic technical decisions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for production issues, with experience in monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Datadog).

5. Soft Skills & Professional Qualities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High sense of ownership, accountability, and initiative.
  • Ability to collaborate with product managers, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders.
  • Skilled in documentation, technical reporting, and presenting solutions to executives and non-technical audiences.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

6. Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Developer, Scrum Master, PMP).
  • Experience with DevSecOps or secure coding standards (OWASP, NIST).
