Research Nurse

LoveYourself, Inc. is looking for a Research Nurse. The Nurse shall facilitate the study implementation by performing study-related clinical and associated procedures, broader participant clinical care and monitoring, and tasks involving clinical data management. Furthermore, the Nurse shall specifically:

A. Full List of Job Description

• Be knowledgeable of the approved research protocol and applicable regulations, and ensure that the study is performed in accordance with the same and in compliance with clinic and/or sponsor policies, procedures, and safety practices (relevant training will be provided prior to study implementation)
• Work in close coordination with fellow study staff to facilitate and continually improve efficiency of study operations
• Help implement online and offline recruitment strategies in accordance with the approved protocol
• Administer the informed consent process, to include: discussing with study participants, and, as needed, their family, friends, personal physician, and/or non-involved nominated witness, and responding to their questions and concerns about the study; and obtaining requisite signatures and dates in appropriate places on the informed consent forms (ICFs)
• Perform study activities such as, but not limited to: conducting study briefing sessions; screening potential participants for eligibility using study inclusion and exclusion criteria; coordinating participant tests and procedures; collecting vital signs; conducting medical and medication history-taking; providing HIV counseling; administering applicable questionnaires; and collecting data as required by protocol
• Assist, as needed, the Research Medical Technologist in the conduct of phlebotomy and other specimen collection activities for point-of-care testing or onward transport and further testing or storage in partner laboratories while observing infection prevention and control and other necessary healthcare precautions.
• Ensure participant safety and privacy pre-, during and post-specimen collection, medical consultation, and throughout the study visit, and address any participant concerns together with other members of the study team or clinic/laboratory staff
• In consultation with Investigators and clinical pharmacist, perform and document clinical case management, dispense drugs as appropriate and available, and provide adherence and/or risk reduction counseling for HIV/STI prevention or treatment
• In coordination with the Investigators and/or Social Worker, make appropriate participant referrals to other sexual, transgender, mental and other health and social service providers for services not available at the study site, and help maintain a directory of said service providers
• Thoroughly and consistently record relevant participant data using study-prescribed paper-based and/or electronic forms, and applicable clinical care forms, observing good documentation principles and precautions to maintain participant and data confidentiality
• Gather relevant participant records and other study documentation, including but not limited to, case report forms (CRFs) and medical source documents, and: a) Work with the Study Support Officer/s to verify that electronic data entry is complete, accurate, and conforms to source documentation, as part of data quality control procedures, b) Work with the Study Support Officer to organize, store, and safeguard them in accordance
• As regards the results of study-related laboratory tests and procedures: a) Ensure that these are duly reviewed, verified, and annotated by the Sub-Investigators, b) Facilitate their timely and adequate dissemination to participants by the Sub-Investigators, alongside applicable prescriptions and other clinical management instructions
• Maintain the clinical progress notes binder, organizing and safeguarding them in support of clinical care needs while in accordance with sponsor and regulatory requirements
• Maintain relevant trackers to monitor participant clinical outcomes and overall study operations efficiently
• Help maintain relevant study appointment scheduling and tracking systems and, in coordination with the Study Support Officer/s, ensure that: staff schedules are appropriately arranged vis-à-vis participant appointments; participants are adequately reminded of subsequent visits and interval home tests; and participants' status in the study is recorded and monitored using available tools
• In cases of protocol deviations, unanticipated problems, social harms, and adverse events, or concerns on participant or staff safety, prepare proper documentation and report immediately to the Study Coordinator and/or Investigators
• Safekeep study-related clinical and IT equipment, including, but not limited to, desktop/laptop computers, tablets, blood pressure monitors, pulse oximeters, digital thermometers and weighing scales, etc.
• Help in the overall upkeep of the study site, especially in conducting regular, thorough disinfection of all spaces
• Attend regular meetings with the study team to provide updates and address implementation concerns
• Provide input to the Investigators and Study Coordinator in the preparation of periodic sponsor and regulatory reports
• Assist the Investigators, Study Coordinator and Investigators in responding to clinical-related monitoring/audit findings and implementing approved recommendations
• Extend assistance, upon request, to LoveYourself non-study clinic operations
• Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Head of Knowledge and Innovations, Lead for Knowledge and Innovations as need arises.

B. Competencies & Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree holder, preferably a Nursing a graduate
• A Licensed or Registered Nurse with an active registration in the Philippines
• At least a year of Research & Nursing-related experience
• Preferably living in or near Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City
• CLINICAL - Able to assess study volunteers taking study medicines for adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and suspected unexpected serious adverse reactions (SUSARs)
• TECHNICAL - Proficient in oral and written English business communication; operation of computer, ICT and laboratory equipment; knowledge in the use of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace; organizational skills; time and workload management; Good Clinical Practice Certification (updated).
• Can work with minimal supervision, highly trainable, detail-oriented, resourceful, can work well within a team, proactive, open to constructive feedback, and gender-sensitive
