We are seeking a responsible, experienced, and enthusiastic Dog Shuttle Driver and Caretaker to safely and efficiently transport dogs between our clients' homes, our facility (daycare/grooming/boarding), and veterinary appointments. The ideal candidate must be highly reliable, patient with animals, and proficient in operating a manual transmission (stick-shift) van. This role involves driving, safe animal handling, maintaining vehicle logs, and providing a positive transportation experience for our canine clients.

Key Responsibilities

Driving & Logistics

  • Safe Transportation: Operate the company shuttle van, which is a manual transmission vehicle, safely and responsibly in various traffic and weather conditions.
  • Route Management: Efficiently plan and execute daily pickup and drop-off routes, strictly adhering to scheduled times.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct daily pre- and post-trip inspections (tire pressure, fluid levels, cleanliness). Report all necessary maintenance or repair needs promptly to management.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate driving logs, mileage records, and daily animal manifests.

Animal Handling & Care

  • Safety & Security: Ensure all dogs are properly and securely leashed, crated, or harnessed inside the van according to safety protocols before, during, and after transit.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate clearly and professionally with pet owners during drop-off and pick-up, relaying brief behavioral observations or necessary information to the facility staff.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle minor canine first aid, manage unexpected animal behavior, and follow emergency protocols in case of an accident or pet illness during transit.
  • Cleaning: Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the dog shuttle van daily to ensure a hygienic environment for all passengers.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Driving Proficiency: Must demonstrate proven expertise in operating a manual transmission (stick-shift) vehicle.
  • License: Must possess a valid, non-professional Driver's License (Professional Driver's License may be preferred depending on local jurisdiction).
  • Clean Driving Record: A clean driving history with no major traffic violations in the past three years.
  • Experience: Previous professional driving experience (e.g., delivery, transport) or experience handling multiple dogs simultaneously is highly preferred.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift and secure dogs of various sizes (up to 50 lbs), handle leashes, and safely move crates in and out of the vehicle.
  • Pet Passion: A genuine love for dogs and a patient, calm demeanor when working with nervous or excited animals.
  • Reliability: Excellent time management, organizational skills, and punctuality are essential for maintaining the shuttle schedule.
