Job description:

1.1 Provide emotional care for mothers during labor and delivery.

1.2 Explain, demonstrate and assist breastfeeding techniques, while the mother of the newborn is still in the recovery room. (ESSENTIAL INTRA PARTUM AND NEWBORN CARE)

1.3 Take patients vital signs, especially to the newborns who needs special attention when there is lack of manpower.

1.4 Responsible for the rooming-in of well newborn babies.

1.5 Advising about and supporting parents in the daily care of their newborn babies.

1.6 Helps maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the unit.

1.7 See the equipment in clean and in good working condition prior to use.

1.8 Assembles patients chart and attached required forms.

1.9 Assist the nurses in getting supplies by running errands to other departments of the hospital, in the absence of the orderlies and NAs.

1.10 May assist in providing medical treatment and personal care to patients in private settings.

1.11 Comply with infection control and safety standard.

1.12 Keeps Head Nurse or Charge Nurse informed about patients, activities of the department, problems and needs in assigned work area.

1.13 All legal documents should be countersigned by the Charge Nurse or the Nurse on duty.

1.14 May perform initial screening for hearing test, and may perform NBS.

1.0 Educational Qualification and Licensures:

1.1 Bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Midwifery and certification from the Philippine Regulatory Commission; additional education and certification is a plus.

2.0 Professional Experience:

Preferablywith at least 2 years related experience in a recognized health care institution.
