Summary

The Advanced Support Technician is a key member of the customer-facing Managed Services team, responsible for delivering high-level technical support across a wide range of technologies. This role involves resolving complex incidents, problems, and service requests, with a focus on Windows Server platforms, Microsoft 365 (including SharePoint), and remote access solutions. The technician serves as an escalation point for advanced issues and collaborates with internal teams and clients to ensure timely and effective resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, migrate, and support client workloads in Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve help desk tickets related to Office 365, SharePoint, Azure, Hyper-V, and clustered server infrastructures.
  • Provide remote support using screen sharing and remote access tools.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 support coverage.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all work performed in the ticketing system.
  • Monitor server performance and apply corrective actions to maintain optimal system health.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of IT experience, including at least 2 years in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or similar environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022).
  • Familiarity with NOC monitoring tools, preferably ConnectWise Automate.
  • Proficiency in backup solutions, including Azure Backup.
  • Experience with Windows Patch Management systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and effective communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • High attention to detail, adaptability, persistence, and time management skills.

Preferred Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).
  • Relevant Microsoft 365 or Azure certifications.

  • Willingness to work in a long-term remote setup.
  • Amenable to a permanent night shift schedule.
