Ascendion is seeking a highly motivated and experienced SAP Functional Lead to drive the design, implementation, and optimization of critical business processes focused on
Materials Management (MM)
and
Sales and Distribution (SD)

Key ResponsibilitiesFunctional Leadership & Design

  • Lead the entire lifecycle of SAP MM and SD modules, from requirement gathering and blueprinting through deployment and post-go-live support.
  • Articulate and lead the creation of highly detailed Business Requirement Documents (BRD)
    , functional specifications, and solution designs, ensuring alignment between business strategy and SAP capability.
  • Act as the primary functional expert, driving configuration, testing, and documentation for all MM (Procure-to-Pay, Inventory, Master Data/SKU Management) and SD (Order-to-Cash, Pricing, Logistics) activities.

Proactive & Creative Collaboration

  • Foster a highly collaborative and
    creative partnership
    with system integrators and client business stakeholders.
  • Embody a "value-add" consultative approach:
    Instead of simply fulfilling stated requirements, proactively analyze underlying business goals to propose optimal, non-standard solutions. (For example, if a client requests a basic process, propose an optimized, efficient alternative that addresses their broader organizational goals).
  • Be proactive
    in identifying process bottlenecks, integration challenges, and optimization opportunities within the supply chain and commercial systems before they impact operations.

Cross-Module Integration

  • Ensure seamless and robust integration between MM and SD processes.
  • Serve as the functional bridge with other key SAP modules, requiring a solid
    fundamental understanding of cross-functional impacts
    , particularly:
  • FICO (Financial Accounting and Controlling):
    Understanding the impact of MM/SD transactions on financial postings, costing, and reporting.
  • SF (People/HR Systems):
    Understanding organizational structure and personnel impacts on workflow and authorization matrices.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years
    of professional experience in SAP Functional Consulting, with at least
    2 years
    as a Lead, driving large-scale implementation or transformation projects.
  • Deep, hands-on functional expertise in SAP Materials Management (MM)
    , including Procurement, Inventory Management, Master Data (SKUs, Vendors), and P2P processes.
  • Deep, hands-on functional expertise in SAP Sales and Distribution (SD)
    , including Order Management, Pricing, Shipping, Billing, and O2C processes.
  • Demonstrated experience translating high-level business needs into detailed, achievable BRDs and technical requirements.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively, lead workshops, and manage stakeholder expectations across different organizational levels.
  • A
    fundamental understanding of core business processes in SAP FICO
    (GL, AP, AR) and
    SF/HCM
    (Organizational Structure) to manage integration points effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the Consumer Goods or Distribution industry supply chain processes.
  • Certification in SAP MM or SAP SD.
  • Familiarity with S/4HANA architecture and Fiori applications.
