About the Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned and passionate Senior Site Reliability Engineer for a high-impact contract engagement with one of our key clients, a leader in the marketing-tech sector. This is not just a typical SRE role; you will be the foundational expert responsible for spearheading the
adoption of SRE culture and practices
within the client's engineering organization.

You will act as a consultant, engineer, and evangelist, guiding our client on their journey from a traditional operations model to a modern, proactive, and data-driven reliability framework. What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)

As the SRE Adoption Lead, you will be responsible for:

• Strategy & Roadmap:
  Assess the current state of infrastructure, monitoring, and release processes. Develop and champion a strategic roadmap for SRE adoption tailored to the client's needs.
• Establish SRE Fundamentals:
  Define, measure, and establish Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for critical services in collaboration with product and engineering teams.
• Implement Error Budgets:
  Introduce and operationalize the concept of error budgets to drive a balanced approach between feature development and reliability work.
• Enhance Observability:
  Architect and implement a robust observability stack (metrics, logging, tracing) to provide deep insights into system health and performance. You will move the team from basic monitoring to proactive observability.
• Automate Everything:
  Identify and eliminate operational toil through automation. Design and build automated solutions for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and incident response.
• Champion Blameless Culture:
  Lead blameless post-mortems and incident reviews to identify root causes and drive systemic improvements.
• Improve CI/CD & Release Engineering:
  Partner with development teams to integrate reliability and availability best practices into the CI/CD pipeline, enabling safer and more frequent deployments.
• Mentor & Educate:
  Act as a subject matter expert and mentor for the client's engineering teams. Conduct workshops and create documentation to build SRE knowledge across the organization.

Who You Are (Required Skills & Experience)

• Experience:
  5+ years of hands-on experience in a Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Systems Engineering role.
• Cloud Expertise:
  Deep expertise in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including networking, compute, and managed services.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
  Proven proficiency with IaC tools such as Terraform (preferred), Ansible, or Pulumi.
• Containerization:
  Strong, hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, primarily Kubernetes and Docker.
• Observability Stack:
  Demonstrable experience with modern observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Jaeger, Datadog, New Relic).
• CI/CD:
  Solid understanding and practical experience with CI/CD principles and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD).
• Scripting & Automation:
  Strong scripting skills in a language like Python, Go, or Bash.
• Communication:
  Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. You must have the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders without direct authority.

What Makes You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

• Proven experience leading an SRE transformation or adoption initiative in a previous role.
• Experience in defining SLOs and implementing error budget policies that drove tangible business outcomes.
• Familiarity with chaos engineering principles and tools (e.g., Gremlin, Chaos Toolkit).
• Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CKA, AWS/GCP Certified DevOps Engineer).
