Operations Management and Performance Optimization

• Directly oversee the Control Room Operators and shift supervisors, ensuring adherence to all operating procedures, safety guidelines, and generation schedules.

• ⁠Coordinate with external agencies (e.g., dam safety, water regulators) and internal teams to optimize water usage for power generation while meeting environmental flow requirements, downstream user needs, and flood control mandates.

• ⁠Work closely with the NGCP to ensure the plant's generation aligns with real-time grid demands and market signals.

• ⁠ Implement and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as capacity factor, forced outage rate, start-up reliability, and efficiency; lead investigations into performance deviations.

• ⁠Serve as a key leader in developing, maintaining, and executing the plant's emergency action plans (EAPs) for scenarios like equipment failure, severe weather, or dam safety incidents.

• ⁠Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to plan, schedule, and execute major overhauls and maintenance outages (e.g., turbine/generator inspections), ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.

• ⁠Contribute to the development of a long-term Asset Management Plan by making data-driven recommendations on equipment refurbishment, replacement, and modernization (e.g., governor controls, excitation systems).

• ⁠Act as the plant's technical authority in diagnosing complex or recurring mechanical, electrical, or civil issues impacting the turbines, generators, penstocks, or control systems.
