Job Role: SEO Manager

Compensation range:  $1,800 - $2,200 AUD/month

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you'll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: Our client is a boutique Australian marketing consultancy that specialises in helping dental practices grow through clear, practical, and data-driven marketing strategies. They're known for their approachable, down-to-earth working style and focus on delivering real, tangible results rather than overcomplicated agency talk. With a small and collaborative team, they offer a supportive environment where new team members can contribute meaningfully, learn quickly, and be involved in a variety of marketing and administrative initiatives.

Role Overview: We're seeking an experienced SEO Manager to join our team remotely. This is a strategic, hands-on role for a seasoned professional who can drive measurable organic growth through comprehensive SEO strategies while managing team members. Strong technical SEO, local SEO, content gap analysis, off-page strategy, and team management experience are non-negotiable.

Key Responsibilities: 

Keyword Research & Site Architecture

  • Conduct advanced keyword research and develop comprehensive keyword mapping strategies aligned to site structure
  • Design and optimize website architecture for maximum SEO performance, including URL structures, site hierarchies, and internal linking strategiesAnalyze search intent and identify high-value keyword opportunities

On-Page SEO

  • Conduct thorough audits to diagnose ranking issues and implement optimizations including meta tags, schema markup, and content structure
  • Collaborate with copywriters to ensure content meets SEO best practices and targets appropriate keywords

Technical SEO

  • Perform comprehensive technical audits and diagnose critical issues including site speed, mobile optimization, indexation problems, and crawl errors.
  • Implement fixes independently or work with developers to resolve technical issues
  • Monitor Core Web Vitals, manage XML sitemaps, , and ensure optimal site health

Off-Page SEO

  • Critically evaluate backlink profiles, conduct competitive gap analysis, and identify toxic links
  • Develop and execute strategic link-building plans to strengthen domain authority
  • Work with and instruct link builders on strategy, tactics, and quality standards
  • Manage outreach campaigns and oversee link acquisition efforts

Local SEO

  • Optimize Google Business Profile (GBP) listings and implement local SEO strategies for brick-and-mortar businesses
  • Manage NAP consistency, local citations, review management, and local search signals

Content Strategy

  • Perform content gap analysis and develop data-driven content recommendations
  • Provide detailed SEO briefs and guidelines to copywriters, ensuring content aligns with keyword mapping and user intent
Requirements
  • 6+ years of hands-on SEO experience with proven track record of driving organic growth
  • Agency experience managing SEO for multiple clients
  • Previous experience managing and leading people/teams - you must have managed others, not just worked independently
  • Advanced keyword research, mapping, and website architecture design capabilities
  • Expert-level knowledge across all four areas: on-page, technical, off-page, and local SEO
  • Proven ability to develop link-building strategies and instruct/manage link builders
  • Strong technical aptitude to diagnose and resolve complex SEO issues independently
  • Proficiency with SEO tools (SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Google Analytics)
  • Experience working with both Webflow and WordPress platforms
  • Experience collaborating with developers and copywriters
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to provide actionable, data-driven insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment

Desirable

  • Experience with site migrations
  • Understanding of conversion rate optimization (CRO)
