An experienced Engineering Director to oversee and elevate the performance of multiple software development projects and engineering teams. This role is ideal for a technically adept leader with a strong background in system design, hands-on software development, and coaching engineers toward excellence in a fast-paced, startup environment. Responsibilities: Project Oversight: Own the success of 5-10 client projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and meet quality standards.Technical Supervision: Guide the technical architecture of each project, making sure engineering teams are building the right solutions the right way.Team Management: Directly manage and support a team of 10-20 engineers, working on different client projects. Identify performance gaps, provide coaching, and promote growth.Reporting: Communicate project health and engineering performance to executive leadership, providing insights and recommendations. Requirements: Experience:6+ years of professional software engineering experience2+ years in engineering leadership roles, including direct people managementTechical Expertise:Deep understanding of modern software engineering best practices and system architectureProven ability to architect modular, testable, scalable, and secure systemsFamiliar with setting up productive development environments and workflowsTechnical Stack:Proficiency with React and React NativeFamiliarity with Python for backend developmentComfort using Generative AI tools to boost engineering productivityLeadership Skills:Ability to mentor engineers and technical leads, set clear expectations, and foster accountabilityStrong client communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsStartup Background:Prior experience working in startup environments, understanding the pace and ambiguity involved Nice-to-Haves: Hands-on experience building features on top of LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI/ChatGPT)Familiarity with DevOps practices and modern CI/CD pipelinesExposure to product and design thinking
