As a highly skilled Romance Editor, you will be responsible for guiding manuscripts from draft to polished novel. Your role will involve elevating characters, refining emotional arcs, and sharpening pacing so readers never want to put the book down.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developmental Editing: Strengthen storytelling, characterization, and trope delivery while maintaining voice.
  • Scene Drafting: Write seamless new material when needed, matching the author's style.
  • Copyediting: Ensure every line is clean, consistent, and immersive.
  • Genre Coaching: Keep heat levels, payoffs, and beats aligned with contemporary romance expectations.
  • Collaboration: Deliver feedback via tracked changes, editorial letters, and occasional live calls.
  • Project Management: Balance multiple manuscripts while maintaining high editorial standards.
Requirements:
  • Professional editing experience: 3+ years in contemporary romance.
  • Published works: 3+ romance novels edited (please provide ISBNs or retailer links).
  • Ghostwriting/Scene Drafting Experience: Strong skills in writing seamless new material.
  • Grammar, Dialogue Pacing, Formatting: Advanced command of these essential skills.
  • Editorial Skills: Ability to spot sagging middles, sharpen arcs, and elevate tropes.
  • Passion for Romance: A deep love for the genre, including understanding of HEA and HFN.
Work Arrangements:
  • Remote Work: Fully remote, long-term contract role.
  • Trial Period: Compensated trial period included.
