Medical Coding Trainer

Job Summary: We seek an experienced Medical Coding Trainer to conduct medical coding education for new and existing medical coders.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop training modules for medical coding and billing, including ICD 10 CM, CPT, E/M coding, Business of Medicine, Edit Resolution, and Revenue Cycle Management.
  • Design and implement curriculum and training syllabus related to coding and billing training programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
  • Update existing training modules.
  • Produce materials for inpatient medical coding exercises, assessments, and qualifying examinations.
  • Consolidate coder scores from quizzes, exams, and assessments and present data during weekly meetings.
  • Provide continuing education units to maintain certifications of staff.
  • Train and review onboarding coders and refresher training for tenured coders.
  • Communicate changes and updates in guidelines and rules.
  • Collaborate with teams to resolve issues impacting internal and external customers.
  • Understand and comply with company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a Medical or Allied Medical course or equivalent work experience.
  • Certification in CPC from AAPC or CCS from AHIMA.
  • Proficiency in Revenue Cycle Management, E/M, and Procedure Coding.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing job responsibilities, schedules, and procedures.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and flexibility in scheduling.
  • Independent worker with the ability to plan and prioritize tasks under pressure.
  • Understanding and adherence to HIPAA regulations.

  • Work Set-Up: Work From Home.
  • Work Schedule: Dayshift.
  • Physical Demands: Occasional movement around the workspace, sitting, performing manual tasks, and operating equipment.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to follow directions, collaborate with others, and handle stress.
  • Work Environment: Minimal noise level.
