Outbound Logistics Manager Job Description

The Outbound Logistics Manager is responsible for leading the night shift outbound team in ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient order fulfillment. This includes overseeing Fresh Operations to handle perishable goods according to quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the night shift outbound team.
  • Ensure all customer orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time.
  • Monitor and optimize outbound workflows to meet or exceed KPIs.
  • Coordinate with transportation partners to ensure smooth dispatch and delivery schedules.
  • Conduct shift briefings and communicate operational goals and performance updates.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and manage returns, discrepancies, and damages.
  • Ensure all equipment and vehicles used in outbound operations are maintained and operational.
  • Oversee the handling, storage, and dispatch of perishable and temperature-sensitive goods.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and quality regulations.
  • Monitor temperature logs, storage conditions, and expiration dates.
  • Work closely with QA and inventory teams to reduce waste and manage spoilage.
  • Develop a high-performing night shift team through coaching and development.
  • Support workforce planning, including staffing levels, scheduling, and shift coverage.
  • Enforce company safety protocols and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct safety audits and support root cause analysis of incidents.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of warehouse or distribution center experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
  • Prior experience managing outbound logistics and/or fresh/perishable goods is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems and basic inventory control.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, or other food safety certifications is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
