Job Overview

This role encompasses overseeing operational risk and resilience management across various businesses, functions, and geographies. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of operational risks, risk management frameworks, and excellent communication and influencing skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversight and challenge of risk domains and governance activities performed by business owners to ensure effective risk mitigation strategies are implemented.
  • Evaluation of non-compliance with established requirements and timely escalation to direct managers to prevent potential risks.
  • Recommendation of new controls where gaps have been identified to strengthen risk management processes.
  • Review and assessment of incidents and operational loss events, root cause analysis, and development of corrective action plans to minimize future occurrences.
  • Performance of thematic reviews across businesses and/or segments to identify potential enterprise-level problems or issues.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of three years' experience in operational risk management or related fields such as audit or compliance is required.
  • Strong understanding of operational processes, risks, and controls to ensure effective risk management.
  • Broad knowledge of financial services and insurance business, along with related products, to stay up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Experience with independent control design assessment and evaluating operating effectiveness to ensure robust risk management frameworks.

  • Strong professional skepticism and detail orientation with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to drive informed decision-making.
  • Ability to quickly understand business processes and their risk implications, analyze complex situations, and make valuable recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on quality, delivering value, and strong attention to detail to ensure accurate risk assessments.
  • Ability to balance priorities and meet deadlines to maintain productivity and efficiency.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate risk information to stakeholders.
  • Strong influencing skills to build effective relationships within and across divisions to drive collaborative risk management.
  • High proficiency in MS Office Products and data analytics tools to leverage technology for enhanced risk management capabilities.
