At GECO Philippines, we are seeking a highly skilled Backend Developer to join our team. As a key technology expert, you will play a vital role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality applications using Java and .NET frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software architecture planning, ensuring that the design meets business requirements and performance standards. You will be responsible for conducting code reviews, enforcing coding standards and best practices, and collaborating with project managers and other developers to ensure projects meet technical requirements and business goals.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Designing and developing high-quality applications using Java and .NET frameworks

  • Identifying and resolving issues within the codebase and enhancing application performance
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation for code and processes, ensuring easy handovers and knowledge sharing
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior developers, fostering a positive team environment
  • Checking work for defects prior to releasing to QA
  • Submitting pull requests, handling code merges, and facilitating software releases
  • Troubleshooting and owning defects identified by the QA team and customers
  • Nurturing a culture of team excellence with openness, transparency, close collaboration, and a willingness to learn

For this role, we are looking for a candidate with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and at least 5 years of experience with a focus on Java development, complemented by experience in .NET. The ideal candidate will also have proficiency in Java frameworks such as Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JPA, as well as experience with .NET framework, .NET Core, and ASP.NET MVC/Web API.

Other essential skills and qualifications include:

  • Expertise in SQL, particularly with MySQL, MongoDB, and MS SQL
  • Knowledge of TypeScript is a plus
  • Experience with cloud services like Azure is advantageous
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools (Jenkins, Git, Docker)
  • Proficient in using Git and version control systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Proven leadership skills with experience mentoring junior developers
