The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing routine accounting activities such as payroll processing, general ledger posting, accounts payable and receivable functions, and preparation of various financial statements and reports. This includes being familiar with standard accounting concepts, practices, and procedures as well as journal entry posting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple clients across various industries.
  • Preparing bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations.
  • Understanding how payroll preparation and monthly transaction entry impact year-end information.
  • Reviewing accounts for accurate postings and calculating retained earnings.
  • Assisting clients with accounting, payroll, and basic software issues.
  • Preparing quarterly and year-end payroll tax returns.
  • Assisting the tax/accounting and audit departments with reports from client data.
  • Preparing annual information returns (1099 & 1096).
  • Preparing monthly/quarterly sales and use and CAT tax returns when applicable.
  • Performing accrual to cash conversions when necessary.
  • Identifying potential additional services to benefit current clients.
  • Managing fixed assets, updating depreciation schedules.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts to supporting data.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • US Accounting experience is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP principles and practices, with expertise in financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Experience with accounting software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on delivering accurate and timely work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
