About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Retirement Specialist to join our team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality Retirement solutions. In this role, you will work closely with Consultants and Senior Consultants to provide technical assistance in various areas, including data preparation, actuarial valuation, and benefit projections.

The ideal candidate will have +3 years of experience in core valuation work, excellent technical skills, and a strong client-centric approach. You will be responsible for preparing actuarial valuation reports, comparative plan summaries, and other materials that demonstrate your expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to Consultants/Senior Consultants in data preparation, validation & reconciliation, assumption setting, actuarial valuation, analysis of valuation results, plan benchmarking, design, and costing.
  • Prepare actuarial valuation reports for local funding and accounting standards purposes, comparative plan summaries, drafting of plan rules, and presentation and sales materials.
  • Assist Consultants/Senior Consultants in presenting results and may act as the lead and client's main contact person within Willis Towers Watson.
Requirements

Please consider the following requirements:

  • +3 years experience conducting core valuation work in a client-service-oriented environment with large corporate defined benefit plans; defined contribution plan experience a plus.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects within prescribed project guidelines.
  • Strong client relationship, interpersonal, and team skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriate.
  • Ability to respond to all communications effectively and on time.
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues; strong client service orientation.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Ability to work both independently and on client teams and enjoy a fast-paced environment.
  • Sense of accountability; owning one's work and taking pride in it.
  • Self-starter; interest in continually challenging oneself and willing to step outside of one's comfort zone.
  • Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one's work fits into the broader landscape.
  • Strong analytical and integrative skills including the ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic way.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related fields.
  • Significant actuarial exam progress toward AASP/ASA credentials.
  • Background in accounting, finance, investment, and economics.
