Progress OpenEdge Developer Job Description

The role of a Progress OpenEdge Developer involves designing and implementing projects and new client deployments using the Multipub product.

This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet strategic business objectives.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Application Development: Develop and maintain applications using Progress OpenEdge ABL (Advanced Business Language).
  • Complex Program Design: Design, code, test, and debug complex programs.
  • Optimization: Optimize existing applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Database Design: Implement database design and modifications using Progress Database.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with our Product team to translate requirements into technical specifications.
  • Code Reviews: Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
  • Documentation: Document technical specifications and maintain system documentation.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Progress OpenEdge Experience: 3+ years of experience with Progress OpenEdge Development (Version 11.x or higher).
  • Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in Progress ABL/4GL programming.
  • Database Administration: Experience with Progress Database administration and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with Source Control Systems: Familiarity with source control systems.
  • SQL Knowledge: Understanding of SQL and relational database concepts.
  • Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Skills:
  • Progress Dynamics/WebSpeed Experience: Experience with Progress Dynamics/WebSpeed.
  • WinForms Experience: Experience with WinForms.
  • Docker Containerization: Familiarity with Docker containerization.
