Accounting Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, with experience in management reporting and analysis. They will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our financial systems, including accurate processing of accounts, payroll (including STP), superannuation, payroll tax, and regular reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring timely delivery of work within scope
  • Adhering to client deadlines and communicating with Manager if issues arise
  • Completing client processes accurately and promptly
  • Maintaining BAS Agent compliance obligations
  • Providing feedback for Xero process improvements
  • Identifying opportunities for client business growth
  • Setting up Xero files per client requirements
  • Maximizing HubDoc and DEXT efficiency
  • Using Karbon for all tasks
  • Pursuing professional development to stay industry-relevant
  • Performing other project work as needed

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Business Management
  • Experience in management reporting and analysis
  • At least three years Australian bookkeeping experience for small to medium businesses
  • Ability to manage multiple clients with shifting priorities
  • Xero and Xero payroll certification
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (intermediate to high level)
  • Preferred: experience with Karbon
  • Fast learner and adaptable
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong client service focus
  • Ability to work independently and manage your schedule
  • Effective planning and prioritization skills
  • Positive attitude
