Senior Tax and Advisory Accountant Opportunity

This is a senior accountant role designed for seasoned professionals who excel in preparing tax returns and financial reports that drive business decisions.

The ideal candidate will work closely with clients to ensure compliance today while planning smarter for tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage client portfolios, overseeing financial affairs, ensuring tax compliance, and delivering high-quality results
  • Prepare year-end financial statements, tax returns, and BAS lodgments, as well as payroll tax, FBT, and Division 7A compliance
  • Conduct tax research, provide strategic tax planning, and advise on business structuring to optimize client outcomes
  • Support the delivery of virtual CFO services, including budgeting, cash flow forecasting, KPI tracking, and preparation of management reports
  • Assist with internal system improvements and process enhancements within the tax team

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • Extensive experience (4-5 years) in Australian tax within an accounting firm, specializing in SMEs
  • Comprehensive understanding of Australian tax regulations and guidelines, with tax planning and client-facing experience considered advantageous
  • Experience or interest in management reporting, including budgeting, forecasting, and KPI tracking; familiarity with Fathom or similar tools beneficial
  • Proficiency in Xero accounting software required, with background in Karbon and Fathom a plus
  • Hands-on experience in bookkeeping and/or SMSF advantageous
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy across compliance, reporting, and client deliverables
  • Strong communication skills with ability to clearly explain tax and financial concepts to clients and collaborate effectively within a remote team
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to manage deliverables across a client portfolio with minimal supervision
