Job Description

We are looking for a skilled actuary to join our team as a General Insurance Pricing Manager. This role involves developing and implementing pricing strategies for our general insurance lines of business, working closely with the pricing team to conduct market research and analyze competitor pricing, and maintaining pricing models that accurately reflect the risks associated with each product.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and be able to interpret complex data sets. They should also possess excellent communication skills to effectively convey their findings to stakeholders.

In this role, you will work closely with various teams, including marketing, product development, and underwriting, to ensure that pricing is aligned with our company's overall business strategy. You will also be responsible for monitoring pricing performance and making adjustments as needed.

To succeed in this role, you must have a deep understanding of general insurance principles, products, and practices, as well as experience in team management and leadership. You should also be proficient in data analysis, statistical modeling, and predictive modeling, and have knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement pricing strategies for all general insurance lines of business.
  2. Lead the pricing team in conducting market research and analyzing competitor pricing.

  4. Work with marketing, product development, and underwriting teams to ensure that pricing is aligned with the company's overall business strategy.
  5. Monitor pricing performance and make adjustments as needed.
  6. Lead the development of the pricing team, both on technical aspects and business acumen.
  7. Report to the local management, board, and other governance committees as required.
  8. Represent the company at industry events and conferences.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Math, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Business, Risk Management or a similar field.
  • Strong experience in team management.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets to extract relevant insights.
  • Advanced Statistics: Mastery of statistical methods to model risks and optimize insurance product pricing.
  • Predictive Modeling: Skills in machine learning and artificial intelligence to predict customer behaviors and claims.
  • Programming: Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL for data processing and analysis.
  • Data Visualization: Ability to communicate analysis results using visualization tools like Power BI.
  • Project Management: Project management skills to coordinate efforts among different teams (data science, IT, etc.).
  • Insurance Industry Knowledge: Understanding of non-life insurance products and the factors influencing pricing.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to question assumptions and rigorously analyze results.
  • Associate of the ASP (Philippines), CAS (US), SOA (US), IFOA (UK), IAA (Australia), or other full-member institutes under the International Actuarial Association preferably for general insurance could be an advantage.
  • Experience in general insurance pricing could be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge or capabilities to learn about general insurance principles, products, and practices.
  • Experience in leading and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
