Job Summary

The General Accountant plays a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, generating reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

  • General ledger maintenance involves recording all transactions accurately.
  • Ad hoc & monthly reporting preparation is assisted by the General Accountant.
  • Compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS) and company policies is ensured.
  • Prepayment, accrual, and capitalization treatment is also assisted by the General Accountant.
Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Payables entries are verified to ensure they are correctly posted to the subsidiary, department, and location.
  • Payables and receivables reporting is completed, assisting both the AP & AR departments, along with days outstanding calculations.

Reconciliations & Analysis:

  • Monthly bank reconciliations are performed, investigating any discrepancies.
  • Subsidiary ledgers are reconciled to the general ledger.
  • Financial data analysis identifies trends, variances, and opportunities for cost control.
  • Project Accounting and managing the AP Team's credit card processing & refinements are part of the General Accountant's duties.

Compliance & Audit Support:

  • Audit documentation and schedules are prepared for internal and external audits.
  • Accurate and up-to-date financial records are maintained for regulatory reporting purposes.

Other Duties:

  • Assistance is provided with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requested by management is performed.
  • Company policies implementation, policing, and monitoring are also supported by the General Accountant.

This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and CPA certification or equivalent, are preferred qualifications.
