Desktop Support Technician

The role involves delivering exceptional technical assistance to customers and team members by troubleshooting and resolving desktop-related issues.

  • Provide telephone and face-to-face support to users regarding desktop issues.
  • Respond to requests for assistance by providing information to enable users to resolve their problems.
  • Maintain accurate log entries of faults with resolution and contact details.
  • Maintain accurate log entries of all times whilst on shift.
  • Implement hardware/software installations and routine upgrades according to Service Level Agreements.
  • Ensure a professional service by regularly updating requests and providing realistic resolution times.
  • Act as an interface between users and service providers, supplying diagnostic information according to procedures.
  • Evaluate technical queries not progressing and escalate them to Network Engineers according to established procedures.

Applicants should possess at least 2-3 years of relevant IT Support experience coupled with relevant tertiary qualifications, sound technical knowledge of Desktop hardware and software, analytical and problem-solving skills, good time management and communication skills, ability to manage multiple problems at once and prioritise issues, customer service focus, knowledge of the organisation's Standard Operating Environment (SOE), and excellent English communication skills.
