Job Summary

Chaves Hechanova and Lim Law Offices seeks a highly experienced Commercial Lawyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial law, taxation, intellectual property laws, and other business areas, with at least 5 years of experience in corporate law practice.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice to clients on various commercial law matters, including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and dispute resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for natural and juridical persons;
  2. Remain updated on most current legal processes and new laws;
  3. Explain the law and provide sound legal advice to clients;
  4. Conduct extensive legal research and gather evidence;
  5. Draft, review, and manage various legal documents;
  6. Offer legal representation at arbitration or mediation hearings;
  7. Provide innovative solutions to client problems;
  8. Represent clients in court proceedings on civil or criminal matters in a professional manner;
  9. Monitor case progress and keep clients regularly updated on assigned cases;
  10. Prepare pleadings, notices, and other documents;
  11. Oversee paralegals and assistants;
  12. Attend meetings, seminars, and conferences;
  13. Keep cases organized.

Requirements

  • Must possess at least a Post Graduate Law Degree;
  • Must have passed the Philippine Bar examinations;
  • Minimum 5 years experienced employee specializing in law/legal services or equivalent;
  • Must have at least 5 years extensive experience in corporate law practice;
  • Extensive knowledge in commercial law, taxation, intellectual property laws, and other business areas;
  • Must have knowledge and experience in business set-up/closure, PEZA registration, BOC registration;
  • Must be willing to work in Makati City;
  • Must be willing to work long hours (occasionally) and undergo training;
  • Must value hard work, professionalism, and dedication;
  • With pleasing personality and good interpersonal skills;
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual, research, and problem-solving skills;
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented;
  • Can work independently and as part of a team;
  • Can work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
