About the Role:

As a skilled writer, you will be responsible for creating and organizing helpful articles and guides. Your key responsibilities will include writing clear technical documents, working with software developers to understand new features, creating helpful images, organizing documents, testing instructions, updating old documents, and working with support teams.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Write clear technical documents that explain complex information in simple terms.
  • Work with software developers to understand new features and translate technical language into easy-to-understand text.
  • Create diagrams, screenshots, and flowcharts to help explain technical concepts.
  • Organize documents so they are easy to find and use.
  • Test your instructions to make sure they work correctly.
  • Update old documents to keep them accurate and useful.
  • Work with support teams to understand what documentation is needed.
  • Create standard formats and templates to keep all documents consistent.
  • Work on new projects and suggest ways to improve our documentation.

Requirements:

  • A strong writing style that can explain difficult things in simple ways.
  • Experience writing different types of technical documents, such as user manuals and how-to articles.
  • Comfortable asking engineers many questions to get information.
  • Knowledge of documentation software, such as Confluence and Zendesk Guide.
  • Good research skills to find information from different places.
  • Can manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Good organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Works well with others and communicates clearly.

Bonus Points:

  • Familiarity with Bettermode, BrowserStack, Vellum, or other relevant tools.
  • A basic understanding of software development and markup languages like Markdown and HTML.
  • Knowledge of version control systems like Git and SEO principles.

Preferred Experience:

  • Writing API documentation (guides for programmers).
  • Experience with "docs-as-code" (treating documentation like code).
  • Confluence and Jira software experience.
