Freelance Peer Reviewer Job Description

We are seeking a Freelance Peer Reviewer to evaluate and provide feedback on manuscripts submitted to academic journals in the field of geriatric medicine.

This is an exciting opportunity for researchers, retired researchers, or former researchers with expertise in geriatric medicine to contribute their knowledge and skills to the scientific community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate Manuscripts: Assess the novelty of research presented in manuscripts, ensuring it contributes new insights to the field of geriatric medicine.
  • Study Design Evaluation: Assess the appropriateness, comprehensiveness, and clarity of study design and methods to ensure reproducibility.
  • Literature Review Check: Verify that manuscripts thoroughly cite relevant, up-to-date research in geriatric medicine.
  • Results and Conclusions Analysis: Evaluate the presentation of results and conclusions to ensure they are supported by data and significant to the field.
  • Provide Constructive Feedback: Offer suggestions for improvement, highlighting any flaws, omissions, or ethical concerns.
Requirements:
  • Advanced Degree: Hold a Doctorate (PhD/MD) or equivalent advanced degree in geriatric medicine or a related field.
  • Publishing Experience: Possess at least two publications in the last two years in geriatric medicine.
  • Methodological Understanding: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of research methodologies and ethical principles within the discipline.
  • Critical Thinking Skills: Exhibit excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Communication Skills: Display strong written communication skills with the ability to provide clear, concise, and constructive feedback.
  • Time Management: Show the ability to adhere to deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Confidentiality: Commit to maintaining confidentiality and objectivity.
  • Prior Peer Review Experience: Having prior experience as a peer reviewer for academic journals is highly desirable.
