Electrical Engineering Specialist Job Description

The Electrical Engineering Specialist is responsible for conducting and supporting the electrical team in planning, designing, and studying electrical systems necessary to develop and execute financially viable projects.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct system studies and calculations such as load flow, short circuit, line loss analysis, power system studies, and voltage drops within the electrical scope.
  • Prepare design/detailed engineering drawings, estimates, and budgets for proposed projects, expansions, and improvements or any proposed electrical works.
  • Conduct site inspections and surveys for transmission line routes, distribution line routes, tapping point locations, and substation locations.
  • Conduct technical due diligence and prepare reports for potential projects under study.
  • Coordinate work with other teams to avoid conflicts with mechanical, structural, plumbing, and architectural elements of each project.
  • Specify electrical equipment for substations, switchyards, powerhouse, control houses, distribution lines, and transmission lines.
  • Provide support in the preparation of bid documents and other requirements.
  • Prepare and follow up requisitions for electrical materials.
  • Review proposed products by suppliers in accordance with electrical specifications.
  • Support meetings with contractors, consultants, and other service providers for site inspection and provide direction during revisions at the project site.
  • Submit field activity reports to electrical leads for estimation, feasibility study, inspection, and improvements.
  • Maintain software databases (ETAP and other software) and planning data.
  • Conduct studies to improve plant electrical efficiency.
  • Plan and conceptualize projects or networks of projects considering grid feasibility and existing and future demands without compromising safe, reliable, and cost-effective electric service.
  • Develop and update planning and design criteria, standards, requirements, and philosophy.
  • Provide technical support/data for regulatory, business development, and internal or external requirements.
  • Deliver consistent, timely, and high-quality work.
  • Support project monitoring and involvement in construction until commissioning.
