Job Summary

The role of Chief Food Safety Strategist involves providing visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Quality Assurance (QA) department's operations. This encompasses ensuring achievement of departmental objectives, regulatory compliance, and adherence to customer and company standards in plants and toll manufacturing facilities.

This position advises management on external and internal issues impacting food safety, quality, and business profitability. It enables informed decision-making in critical areas where quality and food safety are paramount.

The Chief Food Safety Strategist is responsible for maintaining a highly competent, motivated, and well-supported QA team by implementing technical and professional development programs, conducting proficiency testing, and enhancing roles through HR initiatives.

Additionally, the position focuses on planning, providing input, and reviewing proposals for continuous improvement programs (CIP). It also oversees the acquisition of assets, equipment, and capital investments, including the development of inspection plans for products and processes across production, storage, and distribution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides strategic direction for the overall Quality Assurance and Control system in processed meats manufacturing, spice production, and logistics operations – from raw material testing, in-process verification, inbound and outbound logistics, and final product evaluation.
  • Develops and implements strategies to ensure the company's compliance with statutory, regulatory, certification, company, customer, and other stakeholder requirements.
  • Liaises with Government, Stakeholders, and other external parties and clients regarding activities and matters in the Customer Care System to ensure proper handling of feedback and resolution/closure of product complaints and customer satisfaction.
  • Leads the organization in designing, managing, and operating the QA laboratory, including facility design; analytical capability; and manpower skills, training, and proficiency testing.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Food Science/Chemistry/Engineering or a related field, preferably with a license in the line of profession.
  • At least 10 years of total Quality Assurance experience, with a minimum of 5 years as a QA Manager in meat processing plants or related industries.
  • FDA food safety certification is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of food safety hazard identification and risk assessment, PRP assessment, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Advanced understanding of Management Systems such as QMS, Food Safety, ISO, HACCP, and others.
  • Knowledge in Laboratory Management systems.
  • Experience in supervising/managing chemical and microbiological laboratories.
