Job Summary

The Property Accountant role involves overseeing daily accounting tasks and ensuring the financial accuracy of assigned properties. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles, have a high attention to detail, and be able to develop a deep understanding of their portfolio of properties. This expertise will enable them to provide prompt and accurate reporting and forecasting.

Responsibilities
  • Record all business transactions by posting and processing journal entries.
  • Update accounts receivable and issue invoices as necessary.
  • Process accounts payable and perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist in preparing balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports according to legal and company guidelines.
  • Review expenses, payroll records, and other documents as assigned.
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure timely access to accurate information.
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports summarizing key performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with senior accountants to prepare monthly/yearly closings.
  • Participate in other accounting projects as needed.
  • Conduct annual property assessments, including tax and insurance escalations, and prepare tenant packages.
  • Provide support for vendor relations and assist with monthly sales usage tracking.
  • Complete quarterly property snapshots and financial statements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field.
  • Proven experience as a US Accountant.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong numerical skills and analytical acumen.
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with accounting software such as Yardi are highly valued.
  • Previous experience in the real estate or hospitality industry is an asset.
