Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Editor to join our team as a Romance Novelist Editorial Specialist. As a key member of our editorial staff, you will be responsible for reviewing manuscripts and ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of romance novels and the unique rhythms, beats, and emotional nuances that make them compelling. You will need to possess advanced grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills, as well as the ability to maintain consistency in voice, formatting, and dialogue flow.

In this role, you will work closely with our authors and editors to ensure that every love story shines on the page. You will review manuscripts for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors, maintain consistency in voice and formatting, and double-check continuity across POVs, timelines, and character details.

You will also be responsible for flagging potential errors or inconsistencies for review, providing actionable feedback through tracked changes, editorial notes, and occasional calls. Additionally, you will juggle multiple projects while meeting production deadlines.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of professional editing experience in contemporary romance.
  • A portfolio of at least 2 published romance novels edited (please provide links or ISBNs).
  • Advanced command of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting.
  • An eye for detail and a deep respect for the genre's pacing and emotional beats.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
