Job Overview

This is a remote billing role for skilled nursing facilities requiring proficiency in using PointClickCare.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Billing and Collection Management: Process and submit claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party insurance providers in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Claims Review and Processing: Review and process claims according to government regulations and insurance policies.
  • Accounts Receivable Management: Track and manage outstanding claims and payments, ensuring follow-ups are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure all billing practices comply with regulatory standards, including HIPAA and payer-specific guidelines.
  • Patient Billing and Inquiries: Generate patient bills, respond to billing inquiries, and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Denial and Appeal Resolution: Address claim denials and process appeals as necessary, following up with insurance companies to ensure proper payment.
  • Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with the finance department, medical records team, and clinical staff to gather documentation and ensure billing accuracy, preparing regular reports on billing activity and accounts receivable status.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in medical billing, specifically in long-term care or skilled nursing facilities.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance billing processes, regulations, and terminology.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in billing software, electronic medical records (EMR) systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with SNF-specific billing software such as PointClickCare is required.
  • Attention to Detail and Communication Skills: High level of accuracy in billing and documentation, ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, insurance representatives, and staff members.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding systems, as well as experience with SNF-specific billing software.
