Job Description

The Registered Medical Technologist will play a critical role in the St. Catherine of Alexandria Foundation and Medical Center's laboratory operations. Key responsibilities include ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results, maintaining laboratory equipment, and supervising laboratory technicians.

About the Role

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality laboratory services. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  1. To deliver précised and accurate scientific data used in assisting clinicians in confirming or rejecting a diagnosis, guidelines in patient management and follow-up therapy, and efficient and cost-effective medical and health care delivery.
  2. To appreciate and understand the importance of laboratory organization and management for efficient and cost-effective medical and health care delivery.
  3. To recognize pitfalls, problems, and limitations of laboratory data including Quality Control (sensitivity, precision, accuracy, specificity), drug interaction, and predictive values; as well as relative merits of an assay in terms of methodology, turnaround time, patient preparation, communication, and cost-effectiveness.
  4. To promote the highest standard and ethical practice in the department.
  5. Reports any physical, mechanical, or software damage to all types of equipment.
  6. Ensures that the equipment is working properly by performing proper start-ups and shutdown procedures.
  7. Checks the inventory of stocks regularly and requests replenishment when needed.
  8. Conducts quality control and runs regularly.
  9. Prints out and signs results obtained and releases to the proper authority.
  10. Supervises the laboratory technician on duty.
  11. Follows up expected results done outside.
  12. Reports to the Head of the laboratory daily accomplishments.
  13. Endorses all accomplished and unaccomplished work to the incoming duty.
  14. Maintains the cleanliness of the section.
  15. Practices biohazard safety precautions.
  16. Addresses complaints, requests, and suggestions from patients or other hospital personnel.
  17. Performs other related jobs.
