Freelance Research Evaluator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Freelance Research Evaluator to provide expert assessment and constructive feedback on manuscripts for academic journals and publishers. This role requires researchers, retired researchers, or former researchers with expertise in Clinical Oncology.

This opportunity offers the chance to work independently, utilizing your expertise to evaluate research quality, methodology, and impact. As a Freelance Research Evaluator, you will be responsible for assessing manuscripts, providing detailed feedback, and making recommendations for publication.

Requirements:
  • A Doctorate (PhD/MD) or equivalent advanced degree in the relevant subject area is mandatory.
  • At least two publications in the last two years within your field of expertise are required.
  • You must possess a thorough understanding of research methodologies and ethical principles within the relevant discipline.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills are essential for this role.
  • You should demonstrate strong written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise, and constructive feedback.
  • Able to adhere to deadlines and manage time effectively, ensuring timely completion of evaluations.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and objectivity is crucial in this position.
  • Prior experience as a peer reviewer for academic journals is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with online manuscript submission and review systems is necessary.
Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the novelty of each manuscript, determining whether it adds new knowledge or insights to the field.
  • Assess study design and methodology, ensuring they are appropriate and clearly described.
  • Literature review: check if the manuscript incorporates and cites relevant research in the field.
  • Analyze results and conclusions, evaluating whether they are presented clearly and appropriately.
  • Provide constructive feedback, offering suggestions for improvement or highlighting flaws, omissions, or ethical concerns.
  • Make recommendations for publication based on the evaluation.
