About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Safety Officer to join our team at Archipelago Builders.

Job Summary:

  • This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified individual to work as part of a dynamic team responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings to discuss site-specific hazards and ensure all personnel are aware of their responsibilities regarding safety.

  • Validate and update safety orientation for health and safety awareness, proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and power tools/equipment.

  • Monitor safety at project sites, analyze potential hazards, and implement measures to minimize accidents.

  • Conduct and validate daily inspections of temporary facilities to identify and address any safety concerns.

  • Report any unmanageable site conditions to superiors or immediate supervisors that may lead to unfavorable events and incidents/accidents.

  • Review and finalize all recordable reports, including injuries, fires, motor vehicle accidents, property damage, heavy equipment incidents, near misses, first aid cases, and other pertinent safety records.

  • Conduct spot inspections of power hand tools, PPE, heavy equipment, scaffoldings or working platforms, and other equipment/materials, and validate work permits.

  • Conduct daily site inspections using the 'Daily Safety Observation Report' and 'Safety Non-Conformance Forms' to identify all aspects/hazards and inform all parties of corrective measures to be taken.

  • Inspect all working platforms, barriers/barricades, and safety signboards to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Resolution and Intervention of Work-Related Illness

  • Organize Health and Safety Environment (HSE) committee meetings to discuss ongoing safety initiatives and concerns.

  • Consolidate and submit Safety Order Resolution (SOR) rates to senior management.

  • Report SOR progress results to the project team.

  • Consolidate and submit Housekeeping Program reports.

  • Review and validate monitoring of third-party certificates.

  • Review and validate monitoring of skilled workers' certificates and heavy equipment operator (NC2) qualifications.

  • Review and validate inspection checklists for power tools and equipment.

  • Submit reports on project compliance with DOLE regulations.

  • Review and validate monitoring of fire extinguishers.

  • Organize drills activities, such as fire, earthquake, weather disturbance, chemical spillage, etc.

  • Plan emergency drills and simulations.

  • Submit annual reports on project compliance with DOLE regulations.

Resolution and Intervention of Work-Related Accident

  • Report major accidents to top management immediately.

  • Assist the site nurse in administering medication to injured persons.

  • Issue work stoppage orders when necessary, based on Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Standards requirements.

  • Conduct thorough investigations and create programs to prevent re-occurrence of incidents.

Implementation of Safety Awareness Programs

  • Conduct Health and Safety Environment (HSE) training and awareness sessions for all staff and workers.

  • Assist external auditors/inspectors (client, LGU, government sector, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a graduate of a Bachelor's/College Degree in any 4-year course.

  • At least 1 to 3 years of working experience in the construction field is required for this position.

  • Must have COSH/OSH Training certificates.

  • Must have LCM Training (for SO3 only).

  • Willing to be assigned to different project sites if required.

  • Willing to be assigned within Luzon.

  • Amenable to commute/relocate, living near or within Dasmariñas, Cavite.
