Web Development Lead Role Overview

The Web Development Lead is a pivotal position in driving the development of our customer-facing web applications by ensuring adherence to industry best practices. This role requires a hands-on leader who will perform comprehensive code reviews, ensure optimal application performance, and mentor a focused team.

This position encompasses agile project management responsibilities in coordination with the Director of Software Development. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding technical teams, mentoring junior developers, and enforcing high coding standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Code Quality and Review: Oversee and execute comprehensive code reviews to enforce industry coding standards and best practices.
  • Application Performance Optimization: Ensure that web applications are designed and maintained for optimal performance, scalability, and security.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Guide, mentor, and upskill team members to strengthen technical expertise.
  • Agile Project Management: Lead agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily stand-ups) in close collaboration with the Director of Software Development.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Champion the adoption of emerging web technologies and implement process improvements to reduce technical debt.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications in relevant web technologies or agile methodologies are a plus.
  • Minimum of 9 years in web development with proven expertise in modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly React.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing technical teams and enforcing coding quality through rigorous code reviews.
  • Ability to guide technical teams, mentor junior developers, and enforce high coding standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of React, modern web development practices, with a strong focus on performance optimization and security.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with both technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively.
  • Deep understanding of Scrum and agile methodologies to drive efficient project management.
