Job Title:
WordPress Development Lead

We are looking for a seasoned WordPress professional to lead and mentor a team of developers. This individual will be responsible for the effective execution of projects, collaborating with the team to write front-end and back-end code, develop custom themes and plugins, and integrate third-party services.

About the Role:
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience as a WordPress developer using custom built themes, leading a development team, and proven expertise in the Agile methodology. They will also be proficient in front-end technologies such as SASS, CSS3, JavaScript, HTML5, jQuery, backend developments like WordPress, PHP, MySQL, API integrations, JSON, and XML, and experienced in GIT workflows and code versioning tools.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of developers, promoting collaboration and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Act as the main communication point between the development team, management, and clients.
  • Solve problems and resolve conflicts when needed.
  • Build web applications using custom WordPress themes and plugins.
  • Transform app designs into front-end code with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Create an immersive experience for the user while maintaining excellent performance scores.
  • Write high-quality, scalable, and reusable code.
  • Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical requirements or UX design.
  • Create the website architecture (WordPress Dashboard).
  • Design and manage the website back-end, including database and server integration.
  • Maintain the platform's WordPress core while building customizable solutions.
  • Debug errors, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine performance optimizations.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to best practices in WordPress development.
  • Work with a team to integrate UI components with APIs and databases.
  • Manage the on-site search engine optimization (Yoast SEO).
  • Integrate data from various front/back-end services and databases using REST-API.
  • Navigate and utilize the WPEngine dashboard.
  • Monitor the performance of the live website.
  • Collaborate with the development team to develop and maintain the website(s).
  • Create and integrate quality assurance tests to ensure website success and security.
  • Conduct WordPress training with the client (when needed).
Requirements
  • 5+ years hands-on experience as a WordPress developer using custom built themes.
  • 3+ years work experience leading a development team.
  • Proven expertise in the Agile methodology.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any related field.
  • Adept in CSS animations and have a portfolio of production websites with CSS animations.
  • Proficient in front-end technologies including SASS, CSS3, JavaScript, HTML5, jQuery.
  • Proficient in backend developments such as WordPress, PHP, MySQL, API integrations, JSON, and XML.
  • Proficient in CSS Frameworks such as Bootstrap, Foundation, or TailwindCSS.
  • Experienced in GIT workflows and code versioning tools such as Git, Github or Gitlab.
  • Familiar with testing frameworks and methodologies to validate software functionality, security, and performance within WordPress environments.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Able to learn and keep up-to-date with the latest trends in web development, WordPress, and emerging technologies.
  • Process-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
