Job Description

A Veterinary Telemedicine Specialist will be responsible for remotely assessing patients via a secure video platform, reviewing patient medical records and past history, and providing exceptional care to patients virtually.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain patient history, perform visual examination, and identify problems found to develop a diagnostic, treatment, and follow-up plan.
  • Provide client education on minor medical conditions, behavioral concerns, and small animal nutrition.
  • Recognize medical emergencies and illnesses that require an in-hospital patient visit.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve telemedicine practices and provide knowledge and guidance on best practices of veterinary medicine.
Requirements:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) licensed.
  • 1-2 years of total veterinary medical experience; 10+ years preferred.
  • Strong veterinary general practice experience required; veterinary emergency experience also desirable.
  • Ability to review and maintain electronic patient medical records.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with clients and staff about patient health concerns.
  • Ability to work virtually as part of a remote team.
  • Self-directed training capabilities on telemedicine techniques, VCA technology systems, and patient care protocols.
