Remote assessment of patients via a secure video platform.

A thorough review of patient medical records and past history including medications and problem list.

Obtain patient history, perform visual examination, and identify problems found to develop a diagnostic, treatment, and follow-up plan.

Provide client education on a variety of subjects including but not limited to minor medical conditions (diarrhea, coughing, sneezing, limping, urinary issues, itching); behavioral concerns; and small animal nutrition.

Utilize your clinical training and medical experience to evaluate medical records and provide exceptional care to patients virtually.

Knowledge and ability to recognize medical emergencies and illnesses that require an in-hospital patient visit.

Provide a positive client experience during telemedicine interactions, including providing high-quality patient care, demonstrating empathetic and clear communication, and making clients feel valued.

Provide knowledge and guidance to team members on the best practices of veterinary medicine, new trends, and proper handling of veterinary operations.

Ongoing collaboration with the Relationship Manager and Operations Manager to identify opportunities to improve PetPal's Telemedicine practices to better serve clients and patients.

Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) licensed.
  • 1 to 2 years of total veterinary medical experience; 10+ years preferred.
  • Strong veterinary general practice experience required; veterinary emergency experience also desirable.
  • Ability to review and maintain electronic patient medical records.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and PetPal staff about patient health concerns with a focus on minor medical conditions; behavioral concerns; general companion animal health questions; and nutrition.
  • Ability to work virtually, as part of a remote team.
  • Ability to complete self-directed training as needed on telemedicine techniques, VCA technology systems, patient care protocols, etc.
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week; rotating weekend hours will be required.
  • Ability to make decisions independently.
  • Ability to provide constructive and supportive feedback to others.
  • Comfort with autonomy and ability to exercise self-discipline and accountability.
