Medical billing and coding professionals play a vital role in the healthcare industry by ensuring timely and accurate submission of medical claims.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze patient records to extract relevant medical information for physician/NP visits and home health start-of-care visits.
- Assign accurate codes for diagnostic and procedural information using ICD-10, Home Health PDGM, CPT-4, HCPCS, MS-DRGs, APCs, and POAs.
- Document essential patient data, including medication history, medical history, active diagnoses, and preventive care screens.
- Consult with healthcare providers to identify potential missing HCC diagnoses and ensure accurate documentation and code assignment.
- Review claims data for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain current knowledge of coding regulations and provide education and training as needed.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to improve documentation, coding accuracy, and compliance.
- Professional certification such as CPC or CCS-P is required.
- Background in a medical field and proficiency in English are essential.
- At least two years of experience in medical coding and billing, with a focus on physician and home health coding, is necessary.
