System Engineer Position

This system engineer position is part of the server life cycle team, responsible for designing, planning and implementing server infrastructure products and services. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive excellence, standardization, scalability and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute VM migrations across multiple environments with minimal downtime, ensuring smooth operations and meeting business objectives.
  • Administer and maintain Linux-based systems supporting production workloads, optimizing performance and reliability.
  • Manage and operate hypervisor platforms (Proxmox VE, VMware) for provisioning, migration and lifecycle management, streamlining processes and improving efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (Bash, Perl; Python optional) to support migration, monitoring and routine operations, reducing manual intervention and errors.
  • Implement and manage infrastructure automation using Puppet and Ansible for system configuration, deployment and scaling, enhancing agility and adaptability.
  • Create and review Migration Plans (MOPs) and Change Management Requests (CMRs) to ensure smooth execution, meeting regulatory requirements and minimizing risk.
  • Perform scheduled out-of-hours maintenance in alignment with change management processes, maintaining system uptime and availability.
  • Support the decommissioning of legacy systems, including service removal, data sanitization and e-waste compliance, ensuring environmental responsibility and regulatory adherence.
  • Document and maintain accurate system, process and migration records, facilitating knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities, driving innovation and business growth.
Requirements:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux administration (Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL or similar), with a focus on security, performance and troubleshooting.
  • Proven expertise with hypervisors: Proxmox VE and VMware vSphere/ESXi, with a track record of successful deployments and migrations.
  • Practical experience with infrastructure automation (Puppet, Ansible), with a focus on configuration management, deployment and scaling.
  • Track record of successful VM migrations in enterprise environments, with a focus on minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Knowledge of change management practices (MOPs, CMRs), with a focus on regulatory compliance and risk management.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills in virtualized and Linux environments, with a focus on root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including out-of-hours maintenance windows, with a focus on system uptime and availability.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with a focus on clear and concise reporting and collaboration.
