Key Financial Role

The General Accountant plays a vital part in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing comprehensive reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Core Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update general ledgers to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Assist in the preparation of ad hoc & monthly reporting, providing actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS) and company policies.
  • Assist in the treatment of prepayments, accruals, and capitalization.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Management
  • Verify Payables entries to the correct subsidiary, department, and location.
  • Prepare detailed reporting on Payables & Receivables, assisting both the AP & AR departments in reporting, complete with days outstanding calculations.
Financial Analysis & Reconciliation
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost control.
  • Manage project (costs) accounting.
  • Oversee the AP Team's credit card processing & refinements.
Compliance & Audit Support Services
  • Prepare documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for regulatory reporting.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requested by management.
  • Support company policies implementation, policing, and monitoring.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven experience in general accounting or a related field.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Australian standards is optimal, NZ & US additional.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (i.e. Oracle NetSuite preferred) and MS Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
